D.C. United's Coaches Association eNews
Congratulations to Tim Kearney, D.C. United's August Coach of the Month!
Tim Kearney began coaching in 1990 when his oldest son was nine. Though Tim didn't know much about the sport up to that point, he began attending summer camps and clinics to learn more and also started playing whenever possible. Tim has four sons who have all played soccer and that he has coached on a travel level from U-10 - U-19. Over the years Kearney has earned his USSF National "B" license, coached central district ODP and cat Culpeper High School since 2002. In 2003, Kearney was named 'Richmond Times Dispatch Coach of the Year' for taking Culpeper HS to the Triple A State Semi-finals. Though he has played a large role in their success, Kearney has not coached the travel teams and the high school teams alone. Keith Dennee has co-coached with Kearney for over 14 years. They are currently co-coaching a U-14 Boys travel team in First Division ODSL and the High School team. Keith is as deserving of this honor as I. Kearney and Dennee have also put on a youth 5 v 5 soccer tournament in Culpeper on July 4th, for the last 11 years, for which 150 kids attend. To nominate a fellow colleague for the September Coach of the Month, send an e-mail here. In your e-mail, be sure to tell us why your nominee should be selected for this award. |
