D.C. United's Coaches Association eNews
Congratulations to David Camara, D.C. United's July Coach of the Month!
David Camara is coach of the U-11 Boys GSC Team America Premier Juventus and trainer for the U12 boys Gunston Thunder. David, who holds an NSCAA National Diploma, is an accountant by trade and a former member of the Guinea youth national team pool. He left the accounting field to coach full time. While he is a professional coach, David is not a "hired gun," but routinely puts in extra hours helping the kids on his own time. His dedication to the kids is remarkable. Virtually every day, David is giving one of his students a ride home or to practice - all on his own time and money. Winning is not the primary goal for any of David's teams, but rather he seeks to make "every child he coaches a better soccer player than I was." A parent of one of the players on David's team says, "David is what a professional youth coach should be: A teacher first and counselor/cheerleader second. He continually talks to the kids about character, sportsmanship, and value of hard work. His motto with the kids: Have fun, work hard, then win." To nominate a fellow colleague for the August Coach of the Month, send an e-mail here. In your e-mail, be sure to tell us why your nominee should be selected for this award. |
