Major League Soccer
2008: D.C. United signed Louis Crayton on 8/15 as a senior international. He made his MLS debut on 8/16 in a 1-0 win over the Chicago Fire, making two saves in securing the shutout. All told, he played in 12 games (all starts) and put together a record of 3-6-3 in League play. He secured four shutouts and maintained a goals-against-average of 1.58. He was between the pipes - and made one save - for United's 2-1 U.S. Open Cup championship win over the Charleston Battery.
Other Professional Experience
2005-08: Crayton joined FC Basel of Switzerland in 2005. During the 2005-06 season, he was a member of the Basel team that advanced to the quarterfinal around of the UEFA Cup before losing to England's Middlesbrough. He helped the team capture a League title during the 2007-08 season and two Swiss Cups - once in 2007 and again in 2008. During the 2008 edition of the tournament, he started four of six games on the way to the championship. Crayton also participated in two UEFA Cup matches in 2008, as Basel fell in the Round of 32 to Sporting (Portugal).1997-05: Crayton's long Swiss career began with Luzern (1997-98, four appearances) and saw him play with Grasshoppers (1998-00, three appearances), Schaffhausen (2000-01, 13 appearances), Wangen (2000-01, six appearances), YF Juventus (2001-02, 15 appearances), Zug 94 (2002-03, 13 appearances), and Concordia Basel (2003-05, 44 appearances).
1995-97: Crayton played two years for Liberia's Saint Joseph Warriors, making his debut at 19 years of age and playing in a total of 33 matches.
International Experience
2000-08: Crayton made his international debut in a 2000 Nations' Cup qualifying match against Tunisia. Since then he has represented his country 36 times, often serving as captain, before announcing his retirement from international play in May 2008. In addition to his national team appearances, Crayton has also played in two FIFA World All-Star games - in South Africa in 1999 and in Hong Kong in 2008.
